Born out of a love for photography, we started in Pittsburgh in 1910 as a hobby shop and portrait studio dedicated to serving department stores. With the passing of our founder, Filmet's focus shifted to offering services as a professional photographic lab, and we were the first company in Pittsburgh to adopt color photography in the 1950s.
We expanded in the 80s, purchasing our first electronic printer and starting our commercial division, getting into commercial printing and signage for businesses. Continuing to invest and change, we acquired top of the line commercial presses and adopted a remote ordering system allowing our digital photographers to connect directly to us from their homes as the photo industry itself was shifting from film to digital.
In 2008 we received an offer to work with Extreme Home Makeover to help bring a local family's memories and personality into their renovated home. We created one-of-a-kind décor items for each family members' interests, including custom statues featuring one of the kids' own robot characters... the very same custom acrylic statues that we're offering through Go Filmet. It was an amazing experience that we all remember fondly.
Now with Go Filmet, we are using all the knowledge and experience of our professional and commercial divisions to offer the ability to use your photos from any device to create unique books, gifts and décor.
